MAMA’s MAUSOLEUM- Finally, Tolusworld’s Mother is laid down to rest in a cone-roof shaped house

It is finally time for mama to go to her physical final place of rest, a Mausoluem.

What is a Mausoleum- “A mausoleum is an external free-standing building constructed as a monument enclosing the interment space or burial chamber of very important deceased person or people”. The Taj Mahal is an example of a mausoleum.

Few lines about Chief Mrs Margaret Durosomo Akintan’s Mausleum- This beautiful architectural design was constructed in less than 2 months (Mama passed on Nov 11, 2015 and was laid to rest on January 15, 2016). Built on a plot of land just opposite the Akintan family home, it is a cone-roof shaped house big enough to accommodate over 100 people comfortably at a time. The interior is finished with shimmering white marble that seems to change color depending on the sunlight or moonlight hitting its surface. Three quarter of the wall surrounding it is made of glass to allow sunlight into the room. A Chandelier is suspended in the middle of the Mausoleum which lights up the entire mausoleum at night. Every night this chandelier auto lights up so light will continue to shine upon mama’s body. The sunlight lights up in  the day and the chandelier at night.

The beauty of this Mausoleum- Mama’s widower, High Chief Samuel Agboola Akintan, a 90-year-old retired and renowned lawyer and highly placed and respected politician, specially built this for himself and his wife, mama. Still alive, his own final resting place has been made side-by-side mama’s. They were married for 60 years.

Chief Mrs Margaret Durosomo Akintan’s Mausoleum from outside. As you can see, light construction work was still on going then but it has been completed now.

Alive, mama was admired for her flawless beauty and gentle nature. In death, she’s still admired and will forever be remembered. Mama’s mausoleum was the first of its kind in Odode-Idanre, Ondo State.

I was shaken when I first got the news of my mother’s passing. But after being given this heroic state home-going, I find peace within me that she was given what she deserved and will rest peacefully.

Our mother was indeed given a baronial and exquisite exit from this world. Continue to enjoy the pictures. I will bring the last batch of pictures (party reception) to you as soon as possible after which I will showcase my father-in-law’s monumental celebration of life.

If this your first time on Tolusworld, thanks for stopping by. In the last few days I have been covering the home going of my dear mom.
