“SINGU LADY PALAVA” (EP#4): Older Singles? Ask Jesus To Take The Wheels…..Take it From Your Hand…….

35 years of age. Great career; Good girl: Beautiful and smart; Desire so much to marry but yet no husband. What could be wrong with me? What am I not doing right?

Two weeks ago during Memorial Day weekend, I was at a friend’ss place with some other girlfriends of mine. We were talking and gisting about life issues and our lives when we were single. Somehow, the conversation drifted to the issue of marriage. In the course of the conversation, one of my girlfriends made a profound statement. She said “she wished she didn’t have to worry so much about getting or not getting married earlier on in life. She said she wished she could tell every single lady whose desire is to get married that they will get married……someday. No matter what. She then asked all of us…. “how many single ladies do you know in their late 30s, 40s who are not married? We all started thinking. True, it was indeed true. We had to rack our brains. Only a couple of names came to mind. Meaning there are more married women at that age than single women. Meaning the statistics for married women at that age is higher than that of single women….

If you have read quite a number of my writings, you will know that I preach a lot on how to prepare and strategically position yourself for your ideal man. I believe strongly in these values as you, as a woman have to do your part to cross all your “Ts” and dot all your “Is”. But then when you are done with all these, it is now time to sit back, relax and let God do what he alone is good at doing.

What exactly do you sweat over?

Family Pressure- You feel funny attending Christmas party or thanksgiving. The last time you were there, you went alone and now a year has elapsed and you are going alone again. Is it that cousin that is always running his/her mouth. You can’t stand that cousin that keeps bringing up how beautiful it is to get married or that naughty sibling who just won’t get off your case.

Biological Clock- Yes, I have written about this as well and how you need to manage your affairs with your guy if/when you are in long –term relationship and the relationship is taking too long for the man to address certain vital issues. True. This is not what I’m eluding to here. Today I speak to women that have done all there is to do. All they have been trained and counselled to do but yet nothing seem to be bulging. I want you to remember that God created that biological clock for a reason and if it is your desire to get married, and you have done your part my dear, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Allow God to do what he is known to do. Let him take the wheels.

The shrinking reality- A lot of older singles get scared of the shrinking reality that obviously faces them. The older a woman gets, the smaller the men’s pool become. A blunt truth of life looking at statistics and men’s preferences. But then, have you ever gotten to a point in life when you don’t know what to do or what to say? I know I have been there many times over. A point when you have done everything humanly possible. A point where you have exercised your God given knowledge, wisdom and expertise and you know you do not have control over the situation, at least not anymore. You have changed your environment; you have changed jobs; you have prayed; you have fasted but yet the you are single and still desiring to be married……again I say. Let go and let God.

Let-it -o. Just let-it-go. Tell Jesus to take the wheels from you and watch how mighty he would move.

Encouragement for Older Single Ladies….

I just want to encourage you today. Alluding to my friend’s statement above, I realize that we human beings fret over issues that we shouldn’t at times. I have found myself at crossroads in life over and over again when I look at myself and see that I have tried everything possible but a situation will refuse to bulge at that point I literally throw my hands up for Jesus to take the wheels from me and eventually, when I least expect, the situation turns around and gets resolved. This is what I am passing on to you today. Let-it -o. Just let-it-go. Tell Jesus to take the wheels from you and watch how mighty he would move.

I leave you with the lyrics and song from Carrie Underwood’s song “Jesus Take The Wheel’. A song I listen to when I get to that point in life…..

Enjoy your day and week my sweet “Singu lady”….and don’t you worry…It shall be well 🙂

She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat
Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline
It’d been a long hard year

She had a lot on her mind and she didn’t pay attention
She was going way too fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn’t even have time to cry
She was so scared
She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can’t do this on my own
I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I’m on
Jesus take the wheel

It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said I’m sorry for the way
I’ve been living my life
I know I’ve got to change
So from now on tonight

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can’t do this on my own
I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I’m on
Oh, Jesus take the wheel

Oh, I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I’m on
From this road I’m on
Jesus take the wheel

Oh, take it, take it from me.
Oh, wow, ohhhhh.
